Shock and disbelief (read awe) in November 2004 led me to this project, the perfect way to vent, self-educate, and throw myself back into the workforce. I had no experience in publishing, retail sales, or e-commerce; ( my professional background is in banking - 16 years with Bankers Trust, which I loved and which no longer exists, through no fault of my own.) So starting Blue Funk may have seemed an improbable fit, but anger can be a tremendously powerful force.
Kay, Louise, Owen and I each had our own personal reasons for launching Blue Funk Productions LLC, but we all shared a desire to do something creative, with a philanthropic bent. For my part, a “perfect storm” of circumstances, including a newly empty nest and a big birthday (never mind which one) spurred me into action. Having lived in Europe for 8 of the past 12 years, I also think that reading the foreign press had sharpened my view of the U.S. political scene. So I find myself working with people I love for a purpose I embrace - what more could one ask for?
